Hallie Helms UW-Platteville Obituary, Death – The University of Wisconsin–Platteville community is mourning the untimely passing of Hallie L. Helms, a 22-year-old elementary education major from Baraboo, Wisconsin.Hallie was found deceased in her residence hall room at Wilgus Hall on May 19, 2025, in what authorities have described as a targeted and isolated incident. She had celebrated her graduation just two days prior, on May 17, 2025, marking the culmination of her academic journey.
Hallie was known for her compassionate spirit and dedication to her studies. Her professors and peers remember her as a thoughtful and engaged student who was eager to make a positive impact in the field of education. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning in young minds was evident in her academic pursuits and her interactions with others.
Beyond her academic achievements, Hallie was deeply involved in campus life. She formed lasting friendships and was a source of support and encouragement to those around her. Her warm personality and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on the UW–Platteville community.
In the wake of this tragedy, the university has offered counseling services to students, faculty, and staff affected by the loss.
